The Festival was born from the experience gained during seven years of successful public and institutional recognition towards the then precursor Nou Barris Blues Festival , an initiative that emerged in 2003 from the ' Association Capibola Blues , which responds to the desire to promote and disseminate the musical style of the whole society, so popular and altruistic.

Barcelona Blues Festival's goal is to overcome the previous edition year after year. We are full of pride to say that in this eighth edition we get back and dot it once more time.

With a program full of more and better national and international blues and without sacrificing its traditional social involvement, not only for its free concerts, but by openness and solidarity that fills its schedule with concerts at hospitals and prisons that allow public access to culture and social groups often forgotten, the Barcelona Blues Festival has established itself as arguably one of the most important cultural events in the city.
